Consequently, many people expect that once electric vehicles become widely available and replace internal combustion engine vehicles, they will be able to live in a more pleasant environment.
However, the lack of noise needs to be examined from another perspective. This is because the sound of a car plays a role that goes beyond mere noise. For example, the exhaust note of a fast-moving sports car is an element that conveys the car’s powerful engine performance, and for car enthusiasts, it is an attraction in itself. Exhaust sounds symbolize a car’s unique character, and through the sounds of supercars or sports cars, drivers and pedestrians become aware of the car’s presence. These sounds enhance the enjoyment of driving and have become an integral part of automotive culture. Many car enthusiasts cannot help but feel a sense of loss regarding the silent nature of electric vehicles.
